Doomsday Preppers: Ultimate Tank
Rodney shows off his ultimate bug out vehicle.
@Craig Loewen Yes, EMP hardned as per NATO requirements when it was uparmored in the 80's. I would also suspect that because all the electronics are contained in armored steel that acts like a natural faraday cage to some degree as well. It has been modernized with an actual panel from a US M1 Abrams tank.
@Aaron Horrocks Yes, actually rated to defeat a .50 BMG and RPG round. It was uparmored by the UK in the 1980s during the IRA conflict specifically for this threat. If you look at the video when I close the door you will see the extra layer of armored steel. The tires also have solid inserts.
@Rodney Dial @Aaron Horrocks Defeating .50 BMG is one thing. I firmly believe that it will stop regular M2 Ball ammo. However, AP or API or APIT is another story. I've shot 5/8" thick steel plate, and it made a large dent... I've then shot the same plate with .50 BMG AP (Armour Piercing, black tip), and it punched holes in it. I just want to clarify the difference.
@Aaron Horrocks @Rodney Dial Hi Aaron... I am absolutely positive. I have a Sebru .50 and have AP rounds. When we did the upgrade we had spare plate to test. Feel free to go to my facebook and you will see our .50. The vehicle weights 22,000 lbs due to the hard armored steel. The tires are runflats with solid inserts. I would agree with you that a normal Saracen might not defeat AP rounds, but this one is a Mark IV that was uparmored for just that threat.
