When on lockdown, inmates have limited movement and little contact with officers or staff. Getting out of isolation means inmates must end their bad behavior, or face loss of privileges such as visitation.

Hawkins is a newcomer to Smith State Prison, but some years ago, he was inmate at the state's most restrictive prison. Hawkins attacked officers and took one hostage, earning his trip to the deepest hole in the state. Since then Hawkins has tried to reform his behavior and become a model inmate.
