Flight Crew of Expedition 38
Meet the six flight engineers of Expedition 38 who are currently living and working on board the International Space Station.
From left to right: Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Tyurin, Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) astronaut Koichi Wakata, NASA astronaut Rick Mastracchio, Russian cosmonaut Sergey Ryazanskiy, Russian cosmonaut and commander Oleg Kotov, and NASA astronaut Michael Hopkins.
On, November 6, 2013 Expedition 38/39 crew members Mastracchio, Wakata, and Tyurin launched aboard Soyuz TMA-11M to join Expedition 37/38 crew members Kotov, Ryazanskiy, and Hopkins, who launched on September 25, 2013 aboard Soyuz TMA-10M. Six months is currently the maximum time an astronaut is allowed to remain on the space station, due to the medical dangers associated with prolonged exposure to microgravity.
