Hi Donovan, you can tell by the look in your eyes and in the way that you talk that you are truly a good hearted man. I am so happy for you having another child and I bet your daughter is so excited for a baby brother or sister and you will be a wonderful father teaching him or her right from wrong with all of the love that you can. I saw your story before and this morning I have watched it again. I loved what your told your brother while getting ready for the wedding with trading one prison for another it made me laugh so hard and I hope that he to has stayed out of trouble.

God Bless you all and my prayers are for you to have the best to happen to and for you.

Hello Donovan,

i hope you read these posts from time to time. i just saw your story now and its March 2014. I was so very moved by your story and I am praying for you and your family! For some reason this video won't play for me either- which is strange since I know I'm on a fast computer and connection. I did read the other comments and I hope you have to so that you will know you have a lot of fans out there pulling for you, praying for you and sending you love, I really hope you do more community outreach with a focus on youth! I really think you have so much to offer sharing your experience with kids at risk.

Good luck in all you do Donovan! I will be praying for you!

Donovan I watched your documentary on National Geographic Channel today... Keep God in your heart. Don't let the devil win. He has many disguises. Put all your troubles in God's hands. I'm going to keep you in my prayers. I want you to know that sometimes we have to go through the darkness barefoot & hungry before we get to the other side. Every Jon experience is a stepping stone. Be strong pray & thank God. You can do it God Bless you.

Donovan,

I was deeply moved by your story. I prayed for you several times. I have been at the bottom before myself but in a different circumstance. The most important thing in life is your relationship with Jesus Christ. In John chapter 3 Jesus says we must be born again. We must believe in Jesus Christ who died for our sins: past, present and future sins. We believe he arose from the dead. Let me change it now to say you must with every fiber of your being: believe he died in your place and call on him to save your soul. Living your life as a Christian now you must be in God's word every day. You must start hanging around other good Christians. If you need a good study Bible I can send you one. Just email me your address.

My email address is redwards53@gmail.com. Also, send me your phone number as I would like to call you and see how you are doing.

I was in construction all my life. I would think that there is a construction job out there waiting for you. I know the Lord will find a good job for you. Ask him and put it in his hands. You will still have to look as hard as you can. I will be praying for you my friend. Psalm 84:11.

Your friend in Christ,

Donovan, I just watched your episode it made me cry, smile and it truly touched me.  I hope you are doing well.  I just wanted to let you know I have a lot of friends who are in your situation a couple of them have found great jobs being truck drivers.  You can get financial aid which will pay all of your schooling, and most trucking companies hire ex-convicts, and they pay really well, especially long distant drivers!  I'm sure you will be successful at whatever you do....you are a good person.  Donovan you are a beacon of light for others out there that can relate to your situation.  If only everyone who has fallen prey to gang life had a heart like yours, this world would be a better place.  Thank you for sharing your life with us. My love to you and yours.

You can do it! Stay strong and dont give up. Have you ever thought about being a peer counselor for people getting out of prison? It is rewarding and a good reminder of where you have been and what you have overcome. I am a peer counselor and love helping people overcome and set goals and reach them. VERY rewarding. If you dont have peers where you are from ask for a grant (look for funding souces, walmart, ywca/ymca, nat geo, county, state, local, federal, prison programs, rich investors etc.) and start the program yourself.... just an idea. If you get it going holla at me too k, I would love to do some trainings

Hey Donovan

Stay "STRONG" my brotha by God's grace and with your very positive attitude that's half the battle, just TRUST in Him and He would provide you with a "Wonderful/Miraculous" opportunity for you to move forward and be the man that He intended you to be in this life.

My Prayers and thoughts would be with you.

So what happened to him in 2012? I hope he's doing well.

@Milton Johnson

no one put a gun in his hand and told him to be thug [like the rest of his  family] and rob people... he chose to be a criminal and now that he is out         it easy not to go back in, its up to him to choose.

And no he can't claim he was trying to feed his family by carjacking someone.. 14 years in jail taught him to become somewhat of a better human being.

That is the best idea. I hope #NationalGeographic gets it to Donavan.
