Major Phil Ashby works in Sierra Leone with the United Nations to help oversee the peace process in this troubled, warring nation. As an unarmed observer, his job is to persuade rebel forces to disarm. But months into his U.N. mission, a minor incident sparks nationwide fighting. Hundreds of rebels attack the disarmament camp and torture a colleague nearly to death. Unarmed, starving and dehydrated, Ashby decides his only chance for survival is to make a daring escape through the jungle.
