Papa John's Pizza Bike
-
The Call
Travis gets a surprise call from Papa John Schnatter, CEO/Founder of Papa John’s Pizza. Papa John is a fan of the show and he tells the Rednecks what the pizza world really needs is a Pizza Delivery Bike. Travis tells Papa John that he and the guys will design and create the Ultimate Pizza Bike – and when they’re done, John can see how well it works.

Working on the Pizza Oven
Travis and the guys brainstorm. They need to create a bicycle that will keep multiple pizzas hot on a long ride – and that will communicate back to the base. Travis realizes that keeping the pizza hot is the biggest problem – so his solution is bike-based pizza oven – that will cook the pizzas while he rides.
-
Pizza Oven
Pete and Rog start building the oven from a portable 12 volt camping oven, while Travis and Michael build a drink cooler out of Styrofoam and aluminum. Travis tests his bike with extra weight on the rack, and discovers that the imbalance causes him to wobble all over the road.
-
Burnt Pizza
Travis crashes once, then he gets back on – only to have the entire oven burst into flame. They put out the fire and return to the garage to start from scratch.
-
Gravity Adjustment
The guys realize they can fix the bike’s center of gravity by making it longer – so they add a third wheel to the end from a kid’s bike trailer. They rebuild the oven, then create a control panel with an oven monitor, GPS and communications link.
-
Road Test
Travis wants to add an electric motor to give him power assist… so they build one out of two battery-powered drills. Then they decide on the perfect test for the new vehicle – a timed delivery run: pizza bike versus pizza truck.
