Nazi Mystery: Twins from Brazil: Outtakes: Barnyard Interview
When the crew tries to film Dr. Lavinia Shuler-Faccini's interview, a cow sticks his nose where it doesn't belong!
The key to your argument is "assault style"...LOOKS. According to Feinstein my Mini-14 is just fine BUT if I swap out the wood stock for a folding stock, presto...change-o it becomes an 'assault weapon'. If I put a pistol grip on it so I can hold it in my handicapped left hand it is suddenly more dangerous than it was before the pistol grip. Add to that it has the same semi-automatic action as my 40 year old 22 long rifle.
Old Joe wants women to go out and buy a double barrel shotgun. Nice...NOT! Shoot off both barrels, even if you hit the bad guy his partner will get you while you are fumbling around trying to reload. How many rounds are necessary? As many as it takes. It is not unknown for someone to be hit in excess of 20 times and keep coming as one LE only street survival book points out. What about the mother that put 6 in a guy and he still walked away? Maybe #7 or #10 or #15 would have worked?
Are you willing to bet the life of your wife (husband) and kids that the looting will be isolated near stores and commercial property and NOT near you?
If you don't want a semiautomatic varmiter don't get one. But keep your hands off my wife's and mine. Why do you want to take away the weapons of choice from handicapped people, women, minorites and others?
I suspect Ms. Smith holds a minority opinion when it comes to people who are concerned with prepping. Tens of millions of Americans own semiautomatic firearms and somehow manage not to kill anyone.
To encourage the accumulation of assault style weapons given current events is beyond irresponsible. I understand, after reading the profiles of the Practical Preppers, that one was involved in a war and so feels it necessary due to that particular set of circumstances. Far more likely is a natural disaster, and people pull together in those cases. Yes, there may be isolated areas where looting occurs, but more often you see people pulling together, as was the case after Hurricane Andrew (which I lived through) and Hurricane Sandy. Looting also occurred far more often from stores and commercial properties than homes, and one guy with a shotgun out front is a huge deterrent to looters, anyway. You don't need assault weapons. Shame on the National Geographic channel for encouraging anyone to think they are necessary for any reason.
@Kim Smith you're naive, at best, there are absolutely no guarantees that everyone "pulls together" in the face of disaster. It is better to have a weapon and not need it than to need it and not have it. And just because you think "assault weapons" are big, scary black guns doesn't invalidate them as legit tools for defense. You and all the people like you have no legally justifiable reason for restricting any Americans access to the legal ownership & use of firearms, protected by the second amendment. You people develop this mob mentality with a knee-jerk reaction to violence and demonize the very tools that could be used to protect people from this type of violence, instead of blaming the criminally-disturbed people who commit these atrocities. Because it's far easier to blame an inanimate tool like a gun than to hold a criminal human being responsible for their own actions.
Give it a rest already. Do you even know what you are talking about? You are statistically more likely to be killed by a lightning strike in any given year than by an "assault weapon". Heck you are also far more likely to be killed by gravity (also known as falling). Think about that before you post something. Dont just jump on the media hype band wagon. Banning assault weapons wont make our schools safer or stop any bad guys that want to do evil.
