Karen Sanders, along with her twin sister, Sharon, was abducted and brutally raped in May of 1977 outside of Marksville, Louisiana.
The man both sisters identified as the rapist, Vincent Simmons, was sentenced to hundred years in Louisiana State Penitentiary.
In 1997, while testifying at Vincent's parole board hearing, twin sisters Karen and Sharon Sanders were filmed in the documentary, THE FARM. When the film aired the twins became the targets of criticism for many convinced that Vincent had been wrongfully accused.
"Those eyes do not change, he may get greyer or this and that. But those eyes are the same, those eyes that I looked into, that I begged."
Karen and Sharon eventually agreed to participate in Shadows of Doubt, Jonathan Stack's next film examining Vincent's case more closely. They began to tell their story, eventually agreeing to meet with Vincent in person in order to put their fears and anger to rest.
"That face is engraved in our mind forever. When you look into someone's eyes that is doing the things to us that he did, you don't forget it. Those eyes do not change, he may get greyer or this and that. But those eyes are the same, those eyes that I looked into, that I begged." In 2005, Karen wrote a book, Raped: Beyond A Shadow of Doubt, recounting her experiences.
