Perhaps one Egyptian pharaoh towers above the rest: Ramses II, also known as Ramses the Great. A formidable warrior, builder and statesman, he declared himself a living god. For more than two centuries, Egyptologists have debated the secrets of his success. Now, a new generation of archaeologists are looking again at Ramses II, in the hopes of finding out more about the man behind the myth. Does he truly deserve to be remembered as Ramses the Great?
