Through drinking, drugs and partying, Sarah racks up debt and goes to a loan shark to borrow money. But her inability to repay sends her from England to Peru to bring back two suitcases of cocaine. It's promised that if she brings back the drugs, her debts will be forgiven. To avoid suspicion while traveling, she invites along Simon an innocent-looking man with a clean record whom she met at a bar. He is clueless of Sarahs true intentions. On January 10, 2007, they depart and spend a few days enjoying the sites. Unbeknownst to either party, trouble is just around the corner. As Sarah attempts to smuggle the cocaine on the return flight, she is detained by Peruvian law enforcement and eventually she and Simon both are thrown in jail. They are kept in prison for months before being charged. Sarah accepts full responsibility and Simon maintains his innocence, yet Simon is still trapped. Simon remains in legal limbo, unable to leave until final sentencing.
