Big Cat Week: Stalking the Mountain Lion
Casey Anderson sets out to track one of North America’s most elusive predators: the Mountain Lion.
I too was disappointed with this film as I'm opposed to using dogs for treeing cats. I believe there is too big a chance of separating females from their cubs, thus exposing cubs to potential predation ... even the one-eyed male featured in the film. With 'hundreds' of previous pumas treed, I have to wonder why? Our the presenters hunting guides as well, which opens up much more discussion. I do applaud the last few minutes of the film, which represents a less stressful approach. But seeing the dogs chase a cat through snow, the lame footage of the captive cat 'killing' a stuffed deer, well, not the best film, to be sure.
I have enjoyed every episode so far, but this one has me kinda peeved. One, I don't wanna see frightened animals chased up trees, much less have to leave their young somewhere because you are chasing them. Also, of course the cat was disturbed by the cameras surrounding its kill. What did you think was gonna happen, and the cat probably didn't ever return to that kill which means it didn't get all the nutrition and return on the energy exerted that it would have had you not done that. Just seems like you have a bad blind spot about the Mountain Lion, You are usually so careful about not disturbing the wild animals, it's one one the main things I like about this show. What happened?
