I worked as a tree climber on a 5 man crew during the 1970s.  We didn't have bucket trucks, cranes or intercomms.  Every person on our crew was a climber, a ground man and a driver.  At the end of a job we all manned rakes and left the property cleaner than it was before we arrived.  We free climbed everything.  We worked in the heat, the cold and the rain.  We didn't work in thunder and lightning storms.  These guys are a bunch of clowns.  I wouldn't work with any of them.  They give REAL tree people a bad name.  "Big Bad Wood" Begone!

Wesley covered most of what I would say, and he is right. This show will be nothing more than another Axemen, with a bunch of idiots running around.  Scripted and misleading, it is obvious you picked less than stellar outfits to film. Please realize that any attempt to do "something crazy" will be reported to OSHA. Your producers may not be subject to fines, but those so called tree services will.

My name is Wesley Hopper, I am with Urban Forestry in Memphis, TN. The program you are airing "Big Bad Wood" misrepresents the true professionals in our industry. You are showing guys arriving at a job site drunk and their bosses beating them up and the other crews claiming to be cowboys of the trade and showing disregard for other's property. I am surprised that National Geographic would rather show programs rated for the America's Funniest Home Video with characters that come from the Maury Show rather than running a show that really depict the true professionals in our industry. We reach out to our public to hire true professionals and all you have done is "B" rate us. I represent the International Society of Arboriculture as an active board member, as well as other tree boards. I will gain the support of others within our organization to participate in my protest to stop this program, which is not any better than the Discovery Channel's show "New Saw for Hire" which was terminated due to their lack of integrity. Please maintain National Geographic's standard and take this program off of the air.

Sincerely,

Wesley Hopper
