Wild Side of Cats
Our kitty walked into our lives on a cold winter morning in Texas 20 years ago. She was just a baby. All it took was one look at her & to hear "Mew!" come out of her furry mouth for us to fall in love with her. She passed away early last year. She's buried in our back yard with an Angel statue looking down on her. I could never replace her with another cat. I'll miss her forever.
I feed a little feral cat that shows up regularly for dinner. That's about as close as I'll get to owning another cat.
I just loooove cats! well I love dogs too but right now I just have my cats. There are two of them namely Tomi the boy and Smirf the girl. They came into my family in a rather strange way. Handsome Tomi was brought right through the front door into our home by his mom who had supper with him and promptly left him there and would not allow him to follow her. We found my dear pretty Smirf sitting with her mom, the same mom as Tomi's, sitting right in the middle of our parking lot. She just was irresistible and did not budge when I went out of the car towards her but rather seemed to like to picked up by a total stranger. So fluffy kitten in my arms and her mom trailing me I took her upstairs to our home and she's been there ever since. What I have thought about so so many times is how their mom figured that my home would provide a safe, warm, comfortable place with plenty of meals for her kittys. Some people dont know it but animals have feelings of love, they think and find solutions. They are now of age and need to be neutered and spayed. It is safer for them and also prevent little kittens and cats roaming all over the place, being mistreated by humans and chased by dogs.
I received my first cat as a sixth birthday present. We had the same birthday but I had to wait six weeks for her to come to me. I named her Mumpsey after a book I had read, Mumpsey Goes To Kindergarten. I was in kindergarten. Since Mumpsey I have almost always had a cat except for college years. Right now I have only one; he is very ill and will not live much longer as his kidneys are failing. I also have a dog who is NOT loved by the cat although the dog thinks the cat is interesting. I usually get either black or grey cats. Black cats often do not get homes because people have strange prejudices against them so I am more inclined to pick them so that they have a home. I always have my cats neutered or spayed. I refused to add to the overabundance of the cat population. I'm sure I will wait a while before getting a new one. I always get them from pet shelters and am thinking of getting an older cat that someone has had to give up or has been in the shelter for awhile.
I have had cats since childhood until, in my fifties, my beautiful cat succumbed to cancer.
Now that our condo unit will allow small animals my husband and I are considering
another kitty. My favourite animal.
Avec les chats j'ai appris deux choses : Que l'être humain peut être dressé, pas éduqué, mais dressé par son matou ; ensuite, jamais un humain ne possédera son chat alors que l'inverse est rigoureusement inexacte !!!
My kitties all have such incredible delightful personalities. Such wonderful little companions they are!
I've always been a total sucker for Cats, they've been such good little friends, probably wind up with another soon..

WOW! I knew I had some animals in the house, but thanks for explaining it more!! I have one who talks a lot. I know he loves and wants to play crunchy mouse or jingle bird on a string. Hes good at that! I have a wild animal!!
@Julie Reiner Julie, I'm with you. I just wish all cat people would have their animals spayed/neutered. You may think it's unnecessary to neuter a male, but he CAN father kittens & this should be avoided. Cats should not be treated as throwaway pets. People who will not spay their females or neuter their males are just selfish. Free or low-cost spay/neuter programs are available in most areas, I believe. Cats usually can survive without homes, but they are pitiful.
